As we duly reported on Monday, two of W_Music’s editors known as Chandra Drews/ Ffonz/ The Fat Cat & Jan K teamed up under the guise of Nail Trap Man Captured and were on the cyberspace airwaves live from Red Light Radio in Amsterdam with a highly eclectic and self indulgent mix of (amongst others) reggae, Turkish psychedelia, Indonesian space-funk to tripped-out jazz and avant-garde disco. Unfortunately only 60 minutes of the 120 minute show survived the early technical difficulties the station were having on the day. Yet on the flip side, that meant some of our dodgy mixing had been cut and the surviving 60 minutes is comprised of mostly straight up bebop, jazz-funk, electronica, a bit of James Pants and even Pramoedya Ananta Toer thrown in for good measure. - Spotted my Nsane5 sticker ! The Underbelly Project In 2009 PAC and Workhorse started a project in an abandoned subway station in New York City. Over the course of a year and a half they invited over 100 contemporary artists to leave their creative mark inside the station. Working illegally, the project aimed to document a cross section of contemporary art, free of the commercial restrictions of the traditional gallery environment. Once the project had come to an end, the entrance was sealed trapping the art inside and creating an ephemeral time capsule. The project received praise internationally, including a front-page article from The New York Times. The Underbelly Project is currently turning heads in Miami during Basel and SCOPE with an exhibition of brand new work from artists who participated in both the New York and Paris projects during Miami Art Basel and SCOPE. |
